It’s a mystery – new beginnings in 2009

Well, you know what they say, “Life is what happens while you’re making plans.” I started making plans to write more blogs and…life got in the way. Then there were those pesky holidays. It’s a mystery to me where all the time went.  Well, I WILL try to be better in 2009.

January is always an exciting time of the year. Not only do all of our favorite TV shows return, but we get new ones, too! I don’t watch them all, of course – I do have a life, but…I discovered a fabulous new series called, “Dead Men Talking.” It’s on Sunday nights on MSNBC. You’ll have to check your local listing for the time. I have a satellite dish and get the feed out of New York so I have become very adept at time shifting.

Okay the basic premise is the camera crew follows a medical examiner/forensic pathologist on his rounds. He goes to the scene where a body is found and we get to follow the case through to the end. Yes, right into the morgue and autopsy room. They fuzz out the really gross parts, but you get to see a lot. For instance the doctor was trying to determine the COD for a forty-four year old woman – I won’t go into the details but…she basically died of a heart attack. The doctor had the woman’s heart in his hand and pointed out the main artery with a total occlusion. Yup, that will do it every time. Oh, yes – the woman was a smoker.

Every week the show highlights three cases. Some turn out to be natural causes, some not. The thing I found interesting is that both of the doctor’s morgue attendants are pretty, young blonde women. It’s amazing to see them stradling the bodies to take blood and viscous humor samples, breaking limbs that are in full rigor to straighten out bodies and assisting the ME in every aspect of the autpopsy.

So, if you write mysteries I highly recommend this show, not only because it’s interesting, but it will help you get the facts straight when writing your own books. If your not a writer – hey, watch it anyhow. I’m sure you’ll find it interesting.

Okay, that’s all for today. I’ve set a goal of writing 1000 words a day on my latest WIP so I’d better get to it.

Carlene! You are much braver than I. I started a blog years ago, and I posted a few times. Then I abandened it. I don’t know about you, but for me it’s just too much work. I should go back and check to see if anyone ever visited it, lol.

The show you mentioned sounds interesting. But I need another show like I need hives. As it is I have to tape several because they’re on the same time as others I watch.

Well, have fun with your blog.
